Wood processing

In mechanical and thermomechanical wood processing, the machines and systems are exposed to the strong influence of water and also to high mechanical forces during wood shredding and defibration. As the systems and possible production downtimes represent enormous cost factors and redundant systems are generally not available, the selection of suitable lubricants is crucial.

By using specially adapted BECHEM lubricants, power losses, maintenance costs and downtimes can be reduced, thus fulfilling demands for greater efficiency and system availability. Lubricating greases of the BECHEM High-Lub FA 67 Series fulfil the requirements for high mechanical stability, high load-carrying capacity, very good water resistance and exceptional corrosion protection in the wood processing. Especially in their ability to prevent standstill corrosion, the products outperform other conventional lubricants and thus extend the service life of bearings filled with these greases.

Lubricants of the BECHEM High-Lub SW 2 Range, which can also be applied to damp surfaces due to their water-displacing properties.

Debarking and wood shredding

For the extreme demands placed on the bearing lubrication of debarking drums or rotor units, lubricants such as the BECHEM High-Lub FA Series for main bearings, have been developed with excellent product properties.

Open drives and races can be reliably lubricated with the Berulit GA Series. Due to their excellent adhesion to metal surfaces without being strongly dust-binding, they ensure low consumption quantities. This prevents wash-off by water.

The rolling bearings in shredders, grinders and refiners are exposed to extremely high and often shock-like loads as well as strong water influences. In refiners, temperatures of up to 130 °C must also be controlled. Despite short relubrication intervals, premature bearing damage often occurs here. With the BECHEM High-Lub FA 67 Series and the Berutemp 490 RS Series provide mechanically very stable greases that reliably protect the bearings against wear, corrosion and premature failure.

Speciality lubricants for pellet mills
Pellet presses with demanding bearings - BECHEM lubricating greases improve durability + efficiency

In the production of wood pellets, a modern, ecological and economical fuel, wood or wood waste such as sawdust and wood chips are compressed under high pressure. The heart of every pellet production plant is the pellet press, in which the specially prepared wood chips enter the pelletising chamber and are pressed through a die with the help of working rollers. This produces uniformly shaped, solid pellets, which are then cooled and processed further.

During this process, the bearings and drive components are subjected to extreme mechanical and thermal loads. High pressures, strong vibrations, friction, heat generation and wood dust pose an enormous challenge for bearing lubrication in pellet presses. The uneven material feed also leads to alternating loads, which causes vibrations and rising temperatures in rollers and bearings.

To ensure reliable operation and a long service life of the machine, lubricants for pellet mills must fulfil particularly high requirements. They must remain dimensionally stable at high temperatures, minimise friction and wear and at the same time provide an effective sealing effect to prevent wood dust from entering the bearings.

The right amount of lubricant is just as important: the amount of grease should be precisely adjusted for initial greasing during assembly in the workshop and for relubrication during operation. Over-greasing can lead to increased temperatures, seal damage and energy losses, while under-greasing can contribute to premature bearing failure and increased friction.

A high-quality, temperature and load-stable lubricant extends the service life of the bearings, reduces wear and minimises downtimes. The result: higher system availability, lower maintenance costs and more efficient, economical pellet production.

Operational safety under high pressure
Reliable under extreme conditions

Whether for the relubrication of mobile presses or the lubrication of large systems, BECHEM lubricants defy the high requirements such as extreme pressures, shock-like impact loads and high operating temperatures in bearings, main shafts, sliding points and gears with very good consistency-temperature behaviour, excellent EP/AW properties (extreme pressure/anti-wear) and corrosion protection. In centralised lubrication systems, they impress with their excellent pumping behaviour.

Pelletising plants have been used for decades to produce pellets for the fuel, energy and animal feed markets. The growing global demand for pellet products has led to an increase in production volumes and thus to more modern and complex machines and systems with significantly higher output.

High-performance BECHEM lubricants play an important role in ensuring reliable plant operation and a long machine service life. They ensure reliable lubrication of bearings in working rollers, which are subject to high loads, in the face of increased demands in terms of productivity, system availability and energy efficiency, while at the same time extending maintenance intervals. Special product range are compatible with the plastic materials and rubber-elastic materials used and are H1-certified for use in the food and animal feed industry for occasional contact with food.
